Seeing how my teaching inspires SINGERS to believe in their potential, reminds me of why I love this work. A mother (Vocal Coach) sees (hears) the magic in her child (singer) well before anyone else does. She feeds and nurtures and protects that magic. She waits for the world to notice. And when it finally does, she wears a quiet, knowing smile. Because the magic the world now sees is what she has known all along.

It wasn’t always so…
*2009 abrupt end of 10 years directing the Cathedral Singing School in Speyer
*2017 forced retirement from my beloved Choir “Juventus Vocalis” of 30 years
*2022 Pandemic closed my 13 year-old Musical Theater School “Bühne frei”
(this is the first time I have mounted up the courage to put these experiences into words…a look ahead at the end of this Blog. Life teaches us to forgive and trust the process with AWARENESS, INTENTION & ACTION!)

I was dedicated to pursuing my goal of creating the best vocal studio I can imagine. I’ll continue to guide my singers, refine my courses, and empower hundreds of vocalists to achieve their goals with strength, and opportunities to grow which they never dreamed were possible. The future is full of endless adventures, and the sky is truly the only limit.

It feels to me like there is power in the people of the world collectively making choices to step forward into a more positive future… all at the same time!

Fun Facts:
Honestly, it’s not the way I look that reveals my age, it’s my use of complete sentences when I text.

I have a bumper sticker that says “Honk If You Think I’m Sexy.” Then I just sit at green lights until I feel better about myself.

My wrinkles are all from laughter.
Except those lines between my eyebrows.
Those are my “WTF” lines, and those things are deep.

It’s just WEiRd being the same age as old people.

Seriously speaking:
As a true blue curious Canadian, I go with Albert Einstein: “Do not grow old, no matter how long you live. Never cease to stand like curious children before the great mystery into which we were born.”

3. GLIMMER SINGING

Glimmers are the opposite of triggers — tiny moments of joy and peace, hope and possibility. Once you start looking for them, you will see them everywhere.
Here’s to the Glimmers of 2024, and looking forward to the Glimmers 2025.

It was my privelage and delight and honor to perform Zemlinsky’s “Maiblumen blühten überall” in 2024 with the Südwest Kammerorchestra under the Direction of Chungki Min at the Eckelshausener Musiktage – Artistic Director: Julius Berger! Performance Date? None other than May 2024!

Elton John’s Song “Electricity” from the Musical Billy Elliot, best describes my emotions when singing:

“I can’t really explain it, I haven’t got the words, it’s a feeling that you can’t control.
I suppose it’s like forgetting, losing who you are and at the same time something makes you whole.
It’s like that there’s music playing in my ear, and I’m listening, and I’m listening
and then I disappear.
And then I feel a change like a fire deep inside.
Something bursting me wide open, impossible to hide.

I SING because I’ve always known that I’m great at it and because I think music is great and I want to be a part of it. I love my voice!
EVERY AGE HAS ITS ARIE!
I wish I would have been aware of this a few YesterYears ago!
Well it’s never too late and so I am busy preparing those Arie.
Having sung Queen of the Night and Pamina countless times, I am prepared to go with the First (or) Second Dame any time!

If you tell your children you love them twice a day, then they will have heard
“I love you” approximately 13,140 times by the time they graduate from high school. I have some catching up to do!
It is not up to me to decide what my children will do with their lives…It is up to them to decide what passions to chase and what to believe and who to love and who they will be in the world. All I can do is raise them as best I can to be kind humans. I am just honored that I get to be the front-row witness …to their becoming. We were truly blessed to welcome Nik to our family in April – he is awesome and definitely a bundle of sunshine in our lives!

July – celebrated my 72 birthday! Summer Holidays!
August – Eugen’s devastating 3 month CT Scan results: Liver Metastases

What am I proud of 2024?

It’s not that the word ‘proud’ disturbs me personally, but having grown up in an era when it was often seen as arrogance or self-importance, I find it carries a certain historical context for me—a reflection of the values and attitudes about humility that shaped my upbringing and self-expression. These attitudes and values can, of course, be seen in a positive light, as long as they don’t lead to making ourselves small or invisible leading to unnecessary self-limitation.

*I feel deeply fulfilled in having maintained the stability of my vocal technique,
allowing me to perform on stage with confidence and artistry.
*I am also truly grateful for embracing IT techniques, which not only enhanced my professional visibility but also strengthened my connections with family and friends—both vital aspects of my life

*feel deeply honored to have supported my singers this year. I am grateful for the resilience and growth I’ve witnessed in my students this year—it’s a testament to their dedication and the work we’ve done together.”

What did I learn about myself 2024?

Too many of us have tried to tone down our weirdness for friends, partners, or family only to later learn that we were suppressing the best things about us. There is no joy like the joy of being your strange self and finding that there are people who love you for it.

The better I get at believing, the better I get at feeling, the better I get at singing.

Most important lessons I learned in 2024

*You are allowed to outgrow versions of who you used to be.
*You are allowed to change your mind.
*You are allowed to shift to what feels more aligned for you now.
*You are allowed to keep growing.
*You are allowed to choose.
*You are allowed to be the version of who you dream of being.

*“20 years from now, you’d give anything to be:
This exact age,
Exactly this healthy,
and back in this exact moment.
Now take a second to enjoy it NOW.” (Rich Webster)

*Emotional maturity looks like being okay with letting others be wrong and have the last word.
You drain yourself when you try to convince people to see a perspective they don’t care to see.
Be mature enough to disengage from things that disrupt your peace.

*You seriously have no idea what people are dealing with in their personal lives.
So just be nice. It’s that simple.

Sometimes we forget how blessed we are. My hot water works, I have groceries to eat, I can still afford eggs, I have clean sheets on my bed, I have a beautiful home and garden…

What went really well in 2024?

Looking back, I see 2024 as a year of growth, connection, and impact.
Being back on stage performing is what I love to do and it’s why I do what I love to do!
*My Soul Sisters Vocal Retreat was simply fantastic.
*De-cluttering is a work in progress.
*My Fitness Studio sees me 3 times a week.
*I did my first audition – more to come!
Needless to say, I feel the same JOY and PASSION for supporting my SINGERS on their journey and the transformation that takes place!

What am I leaving behind and not taking with me into 2025?

*Things that no longer serve me
*Worrying what others think of me
*Anyone and anything that doesn’t make me happy
*Comparing myself to other people
*Stressing about things I can’t change
*Worrying about what has happened in the past

2024 in NUMBERS

It’s not about the numbers – they don’t matter – except, that they do. It’s all about abundance, sharing, connecting, passing on the energy, coming together – not accolades – but watching this work, watching it happen, watching people using words on a daily basis, in an authentic, real and kind way.

  Pro-aging as our superpower, refers to the idea of reframing the challenges that arise as we age, and allowing us the opportunity to turn them into life lessons.
  Pro-aging is about shifting the mindset from fearing age to seeing it as a source of strength. It’s about recognizing that every year brings new skills, deeper wisdom, and greater resilience. Like any superpower, it needs to be nurtured and activated through intention and practice. Every experience I’ve had has added to my power. Instead of “losing youth” I am “gaining mastery”.
  This is WHY I DO WHAT I LOVE TO DO!
  AWARENESS – Identify your limiting beliefs about aging. What have you been told about growing older that feels negative or untrue? Shine a light on those beliefs and challenge them.
  INTENTION – Pro-aging is future-focused. It’s about asking: What can I create, lead, or change with the wisdom I now have? Dreaming doesn’t stop at 50, 60, or 70—it expands because you know what’s truly meaningful.
  ACTION – Take bold action on personal or professional goals without letting age be a factor. Remember it’s never too late. New businesses, creative projects, and legacies can be built at any stage. Your lived experience is your greatest asset. Use your voice to tell your story and inspire others. Speak about your challenges and how you’ve overcome them—you’re not ‘past your prime,’ you’re in the prime of your potential.

11. MY MOTTO 2025: DON‘T QUIT

Always remember this when taking ACTION:
Grapes must be crushed to make wine.
Diamonds form under pressure.
Olives are pressed to release oil.
Seeds grow in darkness.
Whenever you feel crushed, under pressure, pressed, or in darkness, you are in a powerful place of transformation.
Therefore, trust the process and DON‘T QUIT.
